Product Care Guide
Your ERREXCA piece is crafted to last generations. Follow these instructions to preserve the integrity, texture, and luminosity of its exquisite materials.
General Care Principles
These fundamental rules apply to all leather goods and accessories to ensure their longevity:
- **Storage:** Always store your item in its original dust bag when not in use. Fill structured bags lightly with acid-free tissue to help maintain their shape.
- **Climate:** Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat (like direct sunlight or radiators) and humidity, as these can cause the leather to dry out, crack, or warp.
- **Moisture:** Keep your piece dry. If it encounters rain or moisture, gently blot the water immediately with a soft, absorbent, lint-free cloth. Do not rub.
- **Dye Transfer:** Be mindful of contact with dark fabrics (like denim) as the color may transfer onto lighter leathers, and vice-versa.
Leather-Specific Maintenance
Smooth & Grained Calfskin
Calfskin is durable but sensitive to abrasion and scratching. Regular maintenance will enhance its natural patina.
- **Cleaning:** Dust regularly with a clean, soft, dry flannel cloth.
- **Conditioning:** Apply a high-quality, clear leather conditioner (tested on an inconspicuous area first) every 6-12 months to replenish natural oils and prevent drying.
- **Scratches:** For minor surface scratches on smooth leather, gently buffing with a clean finger or soft cloth may help minimize their appearance.
Exotic & Textured Leathers
Exotic embossed leathers require minimal moisture and gentle handling to maintain their texture and sheen.
- **Cleaning:** Use a damp (not wet) cloth to wipe gently, always following the direction of the grain or scale pattern.
- **No Conditioner:** Avoid applying oil-based conditioners, which can soften the texture and dull the finish of embossed or exotic surfaces.
- **Patina:** These leathers generally resist the deep patina development seen in natural calfskin.
Hardware and Finish Care
The solid brass hardware, often plated with gold or palladium, is durable but requires gentle attention to prevent tarnishing.
- **Cleaning:** Wipe down metal components with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemical solvents.
- **Tarnishing:** If plating shows signs of light tarnishing, avoid using commercial metal cleaners. Professional cleaning is recommended.
- **Zippers & Locks:** Lubricate metallic zippers with a colorless wax stick only if friction occurs. Do not force locks or mechanisms.
Monogramming Care Note
If your piece is customized with foil or heat-stamped monogramming, avoid rubbing the area directly with cleaners or conditioners, as this can wear away the finish prematurely.
